Sarah K. Davis, PhD, RCC

Registered clinical counselling in-person in Victoria or online for clients of all ages in BC.

I'm an experienced counsellor who prioritizes building genuine connections with my clients.

I've had the privilege of working with and learning alongside families, children, teenagers, young adults, and adults in K-12 and postsecondary education and counselling for over 20 years.

I'm so glad you're here!

I work as a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with clients who live in BC.

My name is Sarah Davis (she/they) and my counselling practice is based on Lekwungen territory in Victoria, BC.

My practice focuses on helping clients of all ages navigate their lives in ways that are meaningful to them.

Some of the counselling approaches I use include cognitive-behavioural theory (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy, and narrative therapy. Any approach I use is guided by my client's needs, interests, and strengths.

I am an ally to LGBTQQIP2SAA communities, and I am committed to educating myself on issues related to white privilege, anti-racism, the lived experiences of IBPOC, and the decolonization of counselling.

Using strengths-based approach, including neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approaches, are at the core of my counselling practices.

My counselling philosophy is to help people understand, approach, and/or solve their own problems through a collaborative process based on unconditional positive regard for my clients.

Additionally, I teach postsecondary courses in psychology and conduct research with a community of inquiry around decolonizing practices in teaching.

Graduate Student Counselling

Combining my PhD in Educational Psychology with my experience and MA in Counselling provides me with a unique set of skills to support graduate students.

In particular, graduate students are navigating challenges both in and outside of academics and learning. Topics discussed include mental health, anxiety, depression, motivation, writing, careers, supervisor issues, neurodivergence, disability, and health issues.

I offer limited discounted sessions for graduate students who are seeking counselling, please inquire for more information and/or see the FAQs below.

I work with students enrolled in college and university programs. The transition between high school and postsecondary education can be significant and seeking counselling during this time can help build resilience, reduce feelings of isolation, and navigate learning challenges.

Similarly, toward the end of postsecondary education, worries and stress around what to do next are also very common!

I teach postsecondary courses at Camosun College and the University of Victoria. These experiences provide me with insight as to current concerns and problems around mental health and learning, including ADHD, autism, neurodivergence, social challenges, learning challenges, study strategies, career concerns, perfectionism, stress, anxiety, depression, etc.

I offer limited discounted sessions for undergraduate students who are seeking counselling, please inquire for more information and/or see the FAQs below.

Adult Counselling
(Ages 19+)

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious and not sure what to do next? Have you wanted to try counselling but don't know if it's for you or where to start?

Well, then you're in the right place!

I work with adult clients who are experiencing stress, feeling anxious, or dealing with life problems that seem overwhelming. We will work together collaboratively and at your pace to understand your biggest priority, what change you would like to see, and how to make progress toward that change.

With my adult clients, I use solution-focused and cognitive-behavioural approaches that are suitable for short-term counselling (e.g., 5-15 sessions) and that help you identify and understand what may be contributing to your stress and/or anxiety.

With the new BCTF agreement covering RCCs for teachers, my 7 years experience working in K-12 environments make me a wonderful option for teachers seeking counselling.
